Spring Video Submissions

Thank you for your interest in the Ole Miss Cheerleading program. We are passionate about our university, athletics, and program. Please make sure you have filled out our questionnaire on our website before registering for video submissions. You will need to read all the information before completing your registration process. Please have your video ready to be submitted BEFORE registering for Spring Recruitment Videos. These need to be PUBLIC or UNLISTED YouTube links that you will upload in the registration. Recruiting Video Submission: This video has 3 segments, please submit them in this order:

In total, the recruit questionnaire highlight video should be no longer than 5 minutes in length.

SEGMENT 1: Introduction (No more than 2 minutes in length)

  • Name
  • Hometown
  • Answer the below questions:
    • Why do you want to attend the University of Mississippi?
    • Did anyone in your family attend the University of Mississippi and how does that influence your decision?
    • Why would you like to be a part of the cheer team?
    • What team are you interested in and what position are you?
    • Why would you be an ideal candidate?
    • What do you want to pursue academically?
    • What is your best/proudest athletic memory as a competitor?
    • What is an area where you struggle athletically?

SEGMENT 2:  Gameday

We are looking to see you perform and showcase your gameday and personal presence, motion technique, motion sharpness, motion placement, and level of energy and enthusiasm to lead the crowd and have the crowd engage.

SEGMENT 3: Technical Skills (Not all selected team members will have every skill listed)

  • Standing Tumbling- Please show skills on a NON SPRING FLOOR
    • Standing tuck (no step)
    • Standing backhandspring back tuck (no step)
    • Standing two  back handspring tuck/layout/full (prefer no steps)
    • Standing backhandspring layout/ full
    • Standing full
  • Running tumbling – Please show skills on a NON SPRING FLOOR
    • Roundoff full (prefer 2 step)
    • Roundoff handspring full (prefer 2 step)
    • Any other elite passes (whip to full/ Arabian to full/ full through to full/ kick full/ RO Whip Full/ RO Full Full/ etc.)
  • Coed Partner Stunts - Please show your best single base coed partner stunting skills. You do not have to show every skill listed below but show skills from each category (they are listed as a guide)
    • “Hands” stunts
      • Hands libs/ stretches/ arabesques/ QP
  • Toss stunts
    • Libs/ stretches/ arabesques/ QP (can show left and right)
  • Spinning stunts
    • Fullups/ hands full arounds/ high to high full arounds/ low to high full arounds/ double ups
  • Flipping stunts
    • Front handspring ups/ backhandspring up variations/ rewinds/ hand in hand variations/ one arm rewinds/ etc.
    • *Add spin(s) when able to flipping stunts
  • Double Down from a body position
  • All Girl Group Stunts - Please show your best all-female group stunting skills. You do not have to show every skill listed below but show skills from each category (they are listed as a guide)
    • Spinning stunts
      • Full up/ low to high full around/ high to high full around
      • Pull Thru – full up/ low to high full around/ high to high full around
      • Spin in Body Position - low to high full around/ high to high full around
  • Flipping stunts
    • Front handspring ups/ backhandspring up variations/ rewinds/ hand in hand variations/ etc.
    • *Add spin(s) when able to flipping stunts
  • Double Down from a body position

VIDEO RECRUITMENT SUBMISSION

AGES: Current HS Seniors/College Cheerleaders
PRICE: $105
($100 + $5 Fee)

Video Submission Info:
* Speak clearly and confidently
* Label each section correctly
* Use the best point of view so the judges can clearly see you
* Do not crop any stunt videos, we need to see the skill from start to finish including the dismount. Males are not permitted to group stunt
* All skills must be performed on a hard floor or grass, no spring floor, air track, tumble track, rod floor. If skills are performed on any surface besides hard floor and/or grass the video will not be viewed or evaluated
* Videos received past the deadline will not be viewed or evaluated

Note: These videos do not need to be professionally edited, but do need to be PUBLIC or UNLISTED YouTube links in order for our coaching staff and recruitment team to be able to view them (please test your link before including it on the registration form).

*Not all videos will receive a response from the coaching staff. It is REQUIRED for student-athletes with an interest in our program to attend one of the various clinics hosted by the program, to be able to meet the coaching staff, and train with current team members.

Besides a strong technical background and a mature quality of movement, we look for well-rounded individuals. We search for those who are able to conduct themselves professionally (our team members frequently engage in conversations with many alumni, university employees, donors, and fans) and have strong academic success! Our team culture and family atmosphere are vital to the team’s success, therefore a team-oriented individual is also important.

The most important thing to do is communicate! Meet and stay connected to the coaching staff and continue to update us on the admission application process. We strongly recommend coming to more than one in-person clinic and reaching out via email as it is a great way to meet the coaching staff while also getting to train with other prospects and current members of the team.
